The 2005 MCAC grant recipients are:

The Arcadian Chorale, Matawan - GOS $6,091
for the chorale's 2005 programming which is dedicated to expanding concerts, outreach programs serving the cultural life of the community, arts education and special populations throughout Monmouth County and advancing the chorale's professionalism and excellence with more challenging repertory and collaborations with other organizations.

The Art Alliance of Monmouth County, Red Bank - TA $1,000
for expansion and improvements of the website, increase the accessibility and information available, and connect their gallery computer to the web. This interactive technology will provide greater opportunities for visual artists to discover various art exhibits at the Art Alliance and elsewhere.

Ballet Company of the Performing Arts Ensemble, Red Bank - GOS $8,684
to support excellence, education and diversity for everyone through the art of dance. Support permits integration of professional guest artists, young dancers, children and people with disabilities in experiencing classical, contemporary, ethnic and historic dance and serving a broad audience.

Black Box of Asbury Park, Asbury Park - SP $2,022
for Outside the Box - Woman's Arts Festival. The festival presents new and established women artists of all artistic genres and backgrounds in a diverse array of professional performance and educational programs. Free and ticketed events that feature local New Jersey artists and visiting guest artists include visual arts, music, stage productions, poetry and workshops.

Brookdale Community College, Brookdale Big Band, Lincroft - SP $2,500
for Brookdale Under the Stars concert series, a vibrant, outdoor summer series of jazz music. Currently, the series features three concerts featuring different styles of jazz music - the big band (the Brookdale Big Band), Dixieland (the Brookdale Wolverines) and a quintet with vocalist.

Center Players, Freehold - GOS $5,453
for the operation of Center Playhouse, home of Center Players. This facility serves as a visible arts presence in the Freehold area. In addition to showcasing "Signature Series" stage productions, the theater provides space for auditions, rehearsals, board meetings and community outreach events.

Central Jersey Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., Asbury Park - SP $1,680
to provide activities and programs for underserved minority youth and adults in the community. Specifically funding is for artists for the Martin Luther King Memorial Program and the Jazz Brunch and for equipment rental for the Afternoon of Art and Music, for bus transportation costs for the concert and theater performances, and for publicity, marketing and supplies for all programs.

Company Of Dance Arts, Red Bank - GOS $10,211
to provide children and teens with performance opportunities in dance that meet professional standards of artistic development, performance values and production qualities. In 2005, it will stage The Nutcracker and A Midsummer Night's Dream and hold numerous educational outreach programs.

First Avenue Playhouse/Starburst Productions, Atlantic Highlands - SP $2,000
for its theatrical and puppet performances for children and adults. It offers an affordable theater experience for the whole family. The Papermoon Puppet Theatre brings originally staged productions to the theater and schools.

Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury - GOS $6,231
for the Guild's work including monthly exhibitions, community outreach, demonstrations, workshops, and lectures. It's gallery and programs are open to the public.

Heart of New Jersey Chorus of the Sweet Adelines, International, Freehold - GOS $2,000
for educating its members in the art of barbershop harmony and bring performances to underserved people such as those living in assisted living facilities. It also supports expanded outreach into younger and more culturally diverse audiences.

Jewish Community Center of Greater Monmouth County, Deal - GPS $2,500
for the new performing arts center as a destination for culturally diverse performances and events responsive to the needs of the entire population of Monmouth County and beyond.

Liberty Oak Chorus of the Sweet Adelines International, Freehold - GOS $1,500
to provide free barbershop harmony concerts for the public at civic events and charitable functions.

Manalapan Parks and Recreation, Manalapan - GPS $3,895
for the Manalapan Battleground Symphony, Prep Orchestras, and summer concerts, which are widely attended by the residents of Western Monmouth County. This funding will ensure that the Manalapan Parks and Recreation will be able to place a large focus on cultural arts programming.

Middletown Township Cultural & Arts Council, Inc., Middletown - GOS $7,010
for the 2005 Program Series entitled Growing the Arts that includes free and affordable activities and events designed to cultivate community involvement in the arts while developing valuable partnerships between members of the business community, professional and amateur artists, local arts groups and organizations, the Middletown Board of Education, and the public.

Monmouth Civic Chorus, Red Bank - GOS $17,111
for performances in Monmouth County of choral works by baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary composers. The live productions will include not only masterworks performed with full professional orchestra, but also rarely heard choral treasures and recent compositions.

Monmouth Conservatory of Music, Red Bank - SP $11,684
for after school music instruction at the Red Bank Primary and Intermediate Schools. The conservatory provides group instruction in violin, cello, keyboard and guitar to underserved students thereby promoting the importance of arts in education. Students also have the opportunity to join the Conservatory's Children's Chorus for vocal training and performance.

Monmouth Festival of the Arts, Tinton Falls - SP $7,789
for Monmouth County's only professionally designed, volunteer managed, gallery-style art exhibition and sale. Over 250 juried artists are represented. Children's workshops, art demonstrations, evening programs and docent led tours are included in the festival. An educator's symposium, student art competition, workshops and tours benefit schools.

New Jersey Chamber Singers, Manasquan - SP $2,250
for an all day choral workshop for young singers. The workshop will explore the gospel style of singing as an art form that everyone can share and benefit from, regardless of race or religious belief.

New Jersey State Youth Orchestra, Red Bank - GOS $9,347
to provide outstanding young musicians with an opportunity to play classical and semi-classical music in a disciplined orchestral setting. Concerts are free and open to the public.

Phoenix Productions, Red Bank - GOS $16,789
for four main stage theatrical productions, and two smaller productions in its black box space. Phoenix brings quality theatrical entertainment to both audiences and participants alike.

Poetry for the Poor, Red Bank - SP $2,000
for the publication of a book of poetry, artwork and short writings that have been submitted to Poetry from the People by residents of Monmouth County. Contributors are referred by organizations that work with the impoverished and people with disabilities.

RiverCenter, Red Bank - SP $5,453
for the StreetLife performance series, through which RiverCenter draws people into Red Bank to shop and dine. The series encourages businesses to extend their hours and is a successful economic development tool for Red Bank.

Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts, Long Branch - GOS $8,568
for the new contemporary arts center in downtown Long Branch. With gallery and artist studio space, SICA will increase the public's access, awareness, knowledge and appreciation of the contemporary arts.

Shrewsbury Chorale, Shrewsbury - GOS $3,116
for the Chorale's work of providing high quality vocal ensemble music spanning times, diverse cultures and composers. It will also be used to support its educational outreach vocal workshop.

ZEYBRAH, Cliffwood - SP $3,116
for its 12th Annual Oceans of Rhythm Festival, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, family event combining music, African/Caribbean dance and drumming, drama, and mythology - culminating with a musical procession to the ocean lead by an African stilt walker. The festival features local and international talent and including children and adults.
